About me

Welcome!!

Since 1999 I have been working on things related to the use of ICT on Education. I started my professional life at University of Los Andes, as a member of the Educational Informatics Research & Development Laboratory (LIDIE), where I worked until 2007 as a researcher and advisor. Since October 2005 until April 2008, I was in charge of the national project on ICT use on Higher Education, at the Colombian Ministry of Education. Since then I work as an advisor for the Ministry of Education, in issues of ICT integration and innovation. I'm a consultant to other educational institutions as well.

I'm an only child, still single, a little obsessed over music. I play these days less than I'd like, but I'm convinced that we need to bring to our educational system a lot of the potential and possibilities offered by videogames. I read a lot, as much as my time allows me to do it (science fiction to education, economics, historical novel, etc.). I'm convinced about the importance of education and learning as a road to change lives. As a matter of fact, I experienced that transformation in my own life.

My goal is to try and help to change the world, by building a new relationship of our society with education and knowledge. This web space is an attempt to experiment and to discover new ways for each one of us to have a real online presence.

My formal education is in Computer & Systems Engineering. I hold both an BE and a MS in that area, though at the end of the BE I took the education road. In these years I have had the privilege to work closely with pedagogist, graphic designers, artists, psychologists, anthropologists and teachers for many different subject areas. That diversity enriched me as a professional, and led me to explore uncommon areas for your average engineer, something which I feel really proud of.

Welcome to this corner of the Web! I encourage you to know a little more about me, or to explore the different social networks I belong to, as well as my blog ans wiki. Please feel free to express your thoughts in the comment area of my blog.
